LITTLE EM (For Sweet Emily of Piledriver)
Since Emily came into our house to live
Life has never been really the same.
I used to get very fed up by myself
With no one to join in my game.
we both have a bed which is quite long and wide
For Bulldogs that's how it should be.
But Emily doesn't like sleeping in hers
And creeps into my bed with me.
Now Emily's pretty, and dainty, and small
And greets people aiming to please,
While I am quite heavy and boisterous too
And sometimes I barge into knees.
But though I am bigger and I don't like to fight
and avoid any scrapess if I can
But when a big dog pinned me down in the drive
Little Em bit him up, and he ran!
We go for a walk and if I find a sniff
Little Em comes and has sniff too,
And we have mock battles all over the lawn
A thing that we both like to do.
Emily washes my fat wrinkled face
And I wash her ears and her fur.
It's nice having Em for she takes care of me
And I like to take care of her.
