Although there is no greater child friend than the French bulldog, there are always Frenchies that have problems with kids or kids who have problems with Frenchies.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Kids and Frenchies<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Endearing right? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children and dogs can be each other&#8217;s best friends.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"389\" height=\"129\" src=\"https:\/\/happyfrenchbulldog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/french-bulldog-and-child.jpeg\" alt=\"french bulldog and child\" class=\"wp-image-128\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/happyfrenchbulldog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/french-bulldog-and-child.jpeg 389w, https:\/\/happyfrenchbulldog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/french-bulldog-and-child-300x99.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 389px) 100vw, 389px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And there are also scientific indications that having and caring for a pet is very good for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/animals-and-us\/201707\/why-kids-pets-are-better\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"1227\">development of a child<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children are also often the victims of dog bites.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of all the people who are admitted to the <\/span>hospital due to a dog bite, 43% are younger than 10 years. We need to include our Frenchie and make him feel involved and wanted. A French Bulldog and kids go very well together; they just need to be used to each other.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some do&#8217;s and don&#8217;ts that you must remember when you have a Frenchie, and there is a child on the way or when you buy a French Bulldog puppy and bring him into your family:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>DON&#8217;T<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Send your Frenchie away when the child gets attention, Grumbling.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yell or shout at your Frenchie when he shows an interest in a child.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>DO<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Give your Frenchie attention or treats in the presence of the child.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the dog make a connection between &#8216;child&#8217; and &#8216;nice&#8217;, <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, <\/span>by giving him something tasty every time you start feeding or changing your baby<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or by taking him out when you go on a walk with your child.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Give your Frenchie its own safe place during pregnancy, and learn him to stay quiet and stay there on command, preferably with a nice treat or toy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Teach the child to respect your Frenchie<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dogs have been living with people for years, but their behavior is partly determined by primeval instincts.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/happyfrenchbulldog.com\/french-bulldog-food-allergies\/\" data-lasso-id=\"47\">Food<\/a> and a safe place to call home are so important for survival that a dog will do everything to get and keep it. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children have no idea of \u200b\u200bthis and sometimes put their heads in the food bowl\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or crawl in his basket to wish him goodnight.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fortunately, there are a lot of dogs who don&#8217;t care about this, but there are also plenty who find this type of activity very threatening. Lucky for us Frenchie owners, a French Bulldog isn&#8217;t one of the latter. That&#8217;s why a French Bulldog and kids are a perfect fit<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The more aggressive breeds have no other choice but to growl as a warning, and if that doesn&#8217;t help, they will bite \ud83d\ude26. Again here are some do&#8217;s and don&#8217;ts<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>DON&#8217;T<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the child walk or crawl towards your Frenchie, certainly not when he is in his basket.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have the child bother your Frenchie when he is eating, or playing with a toy, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let your child(ren) shout loudly and run in a very wild manner near your Frenchie.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have children crawl on the floor next to him.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>DO<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let your Frenchie come to the child to do something fun or play.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the (slightly older) child feed the dog a treat by hand unless the dog is very tense while eating.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have children play with the dog, for example, a search game, where the child can hide a toy that the dog must look for. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both think it is great, for the dog it is not threatening, and the child and dog get a better bond.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&#8217;t let a child challenge or command the dog.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A dog sees his family as a pack in which there is a fixed order. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He sees the adults in the family as <\/span>pack leaders<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is simply not possible to teach a child to be the boss of a dog.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A child is physically and psychologically unable to force a dog into a &#8220;lower&#8221; position.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dogs are usually well aware of this; they<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will, therefore, regard the child as being placed lower in the pack. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"389\" height=\"129\" src=\"https:\/\/happyfrenchbulldog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/french-bulldog-and-kid.jpeg\" alt=\"french bulldog and kid\" class=\"wp-image-130\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/happyfrenchbulldog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/french-bulldog-and-kid.jpeg 389w, https:\/\/happyfrenchbulldog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/french-bulldog-and-kid-300x99.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 389px) 100vw, 389px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Children and strange dogs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A quarter of all biting accidents are caused by strange dogs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That is not a reason to make a child afraid of dogs, but do teach a child here what can and cannot be done. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dog owners are responsible for the proper education of their dogs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just as with traffic, children must also learn rules for dealing with strange dogs on the street.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can like dogs or not, but you will always run into them on the street, in the park&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fortunately, there are a lot of nice and friendly dogs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the dogs you meet on the street are not all nice (just like people), and there are still too many parents who let their children pet every dog \u200b\u200bthey encounter. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They think that they are doing their child a favor but do not realize that a dog has its own opinion about this. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some do&#8217;s and don&#8217;ts when your child encounters strange dogs on the street or in the park&#8230; Kids think that when they have a nice and loving<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Frenchie at home that every dog they meet is like that.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>DON&#8217;T<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the child stare at the dog (this threatens a dog) <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Let your kid hang over the dog&#8217;s neck. (this <\/span>might seem obvious,<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but lots of parents let their kids do this)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the child give the dog instructions.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>DO<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The child learns,<\/span> along with the dog,<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to look around.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking the dog and the children together for a nice walk.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensuring a fun game between child and dog.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Misconceptions that people say about dogs:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;He looks so sweet&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any dog \u200b\u200bcan bite, whether he&#8217;s large or small, black or white, with or without a tail&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A large dangerous-looking dog can be a big teddy bear, a small cuddly dog \u200b\u200bcan be very nasty, and vice versa.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, even the sweetest, nicest dog can be scared of a child or just don&#8217;t want to be touched.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I bet that you probably wouldn&#8217;t like to be touched on the street by a total stranger.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Oh, He wags his tail&#8221; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The biggest misunderstanding in the world is that a dog that wags is always happy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wagging looks very cute but can mean different things, such as<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: &#8220;Hello, how nice that I see you&#8221; dogs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the child scream or run away when a dog arrives (the harder it screams or runs, the more interesting a dog will find the child, that&#8217;s his hunting instinct)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The child hit the dog.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>DO<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teach your child three rules for petting dogs:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> First, ask your mother or father<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(and if there is no mom or dad around: do not pet!!)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Then ask the dog&#8217;s owner <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(and if there is no owner: do not pet!)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If you are allowed to pet the dog by both the parents and the owner: carefully extend your hand and see if the dog comes to you. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">when he doesn&#8217;t come, he doesn&#8217;t feel like it and you have to leave him alone. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If he does come, gently tickle him UNDER his chin or on his back. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&#8217;t stroke him upside down, most dogs don&#8217;t like it at all.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teach a child how to deal with dogs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, teach a (scared) child to stand still quietly when a dog arrives and look the other way.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remind your kid to keep his hands in his pocket or on his back.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(most dogs know from experience that there is often something yummy in the hands, so they will look for it. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With hands on the back, a dog may smell it for a while but quickly lose interest) <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the last but most important tip of all:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Let children and dogs NEVER, EVER, EVER alone with each other!!!<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apply the tips above, and you&#8217;ll see that a French Bulldog and your kids will be friends for
